French lawmakers have adopted a new motion, urging the government of Francois Hollande to recognize a Palestinian state.
"For 339, against 151, the National Assembly has adopted."
The move is largely symbolic and does not affect France's current diplomatic stance connected to the Palestinians.
However, it is being viewed as another example of European impatience with the stalled Middle East peace process.
Last month Sweden became the latest European country to recognize a Palestinian state.
The parliaments in Spain, Britain and Ireland have also held votes backing non-binding resolutions in favor of official Palestinian recognition.
