CRI听力:al-Qaida Commander in Yemen Denounces Beheadings by IS Group
A senior military commander of al-Qaida in Yemen has denounced beheadings carried out by the group's Islamic State rivals.
Sheikh Nasr bin Ali al-Ansi made the remarks in a video posted on one of the group's Twitter accounts.
He described the acts as "barbaric."
"There is no doubt that our brothers have been affected by pictures of the beheadings. We don't agree with it, we extremely denounce it. Filming and promoting it among people in the name of Islam and Jihad is a big mistake and not acceptable, whatever the justifications are.Filming those images, and for the family to watch a mother or a daughter like this, is very barbaric."
Both groups regularly execute prisoners but beheadings and other brutal acts have become a trademark of IS.
The comments appeared to have been recorded before the killing of an American and South African hostage in Yemen on Saturday during a rescue attempt by US forces.
The operation involved about 40 soldiers from the US special forces, under the support of drones.
According to Yemeni security officials, 10 al-Qaida militants were killed in the operation.
