CRI听力:France Deploys Troops After Attacks
France's government has announced plans to step police and military patrols in public spaces following recent attacks.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls says up to 300 extra soldier will be deployed.
"Since last week, Plan Vigipirate has been reinforced for the holiday period. Police and Gendarmerie patrols will be deployed in crowded areas, as a precaution, at priority malls, town centres, train stations, and transport networks. The number of Vigipirate military patrols will increase during this period. "
The decision was made after three violent attacks happened in 3 days, including two nearly identical rampages by drivers who ploughed into holiday crowds.
However, authorities denied any links between those attacks, which left more than 20 injured.
France is already on high alert after calls earlier this year from militants to attack its citizens and interests in reprisal for French military strikes on Islamist strongholds in the Middle East and Africa.
