CRI听力:Another Black Teenager Killed by Police in St. Louis

2014-12-25来源:CRI

In the United States, a police officer has killed a black man who reportedly pointed a gun at him at a petrol station in suburban St. Louis.

County Police chief Jon Belmar says 18-year-old Antonio Martin pulled a handgun on the officer while being questioned, and was then shot and killed by the officer.

"The individual that is going to have the firearm, he backed away to the east just for a few steps, turned back around, the officer started engaging him in conversation again and then the individual produced a pistol with his arm straight out, pointing at the officer from kind of across the hood of the police car. At that point the officer produced his service weapon and fired what we think at this point is three shots."

He added that no shots came from Martin's loaded gun.

Scuffles broke out early Wednesday between police officers and a vocal crowd of several hundred people who taunted the officers at the scene of the shooting in the suburb of Berkeley.

Berkeley is just a few miles from Ferguson, where another white police officer, Darren Wilson, fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown in August.

However, Berkeley Mayor, Theodore Hoskins, claims that this incident can't be compared with the shooting in Ferguson.

"Last night, everybody, you would have thought I was in Ferguson again. There is a jump to conclusion that all policemen are guilty and we all know 80 or 90 percent of our policemen serve our community well. So jumping to conclusion before investigating is not acceptable. "

A grand jury's decision last month to not charge Wilson in the shooting of the unarmed black teen has spurred a nationwide movement to protest police brutality.
