CRI听力:Newcomers Shake up Spain's Political Scene in Andalusia Poll

2015-03-24来源:CRI

Two fledgling parties in Spain are said to be making significant inroads in their first regional bids for power in the election in Andalusia, the country's most populous region.

Left-wing Podemos, which is said to have links to Greece's anti-austerity Syriza Party, along with fellow newcomer Ciudadanos, a centrist party, have jointly secured about 25 percent of the vote.

Teresa Rodriguez is a leader of Podemos.

"We want the sector of Podemos in the parliament to be the sector of the normal people, to be the ally of citizens of Andalucia, we want to spread the common sense of the street to the parliament. We do not want cuts in education and health whilst the banks are rescued."

The opposition Socialist Party and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's Popular Party finished first and second in the Andalucia poll.

However, observers have been suggesting this may be a sign that the two-party system that emerged from Spain when it returned to democracy in the late 1970s may now be fracturing.
