2015-05-03来源:CRI

The Chinese side of a pivotal highway linking its Tibet region with Nepal was cleared of obstructions Friday, almost a week after the earthquake in Nepal caused landslides that blocked the road.

Road work in Tibet began immediately after the quake.

Meanwhile, over 6 thousand people from the most-affected areas have been transferred to Lhatse County, which is located near Xigaz.

Zhang Jinsong, the top official of Lhatse County, says people are starting a new life there.

"Well-equipped facilities, convenient transportation, and health checks are in place. More than 1,300 people are working on the spot. Up to now 900 tents have been put up. Police posts and health clinics have been arranged. People who are allocated have all received health checks. We also provide food to them."

A total of 64-thousand affected people in Tibet have reportedly been transferred to safe places so far.

In the meantime, Students in some of hard-hit quake zones have resumed classes.
In Tingri County, more than 28-hundered students have started attending classes in temporary tents or on playgrounds.

Dawa, the Principal of the County Middle School in Tingri, says there are still some difficulties.

"The tents are not big enough to have desks or chairs. Also, with the constant aftershocks, we dare not go back to the school to fetch the desks and chairs. So the students just have to sit on their legs and feet for the classes."

Students evacuated from the devastated areas have also received psychological assistance during their first class in the relocation center.
