2015-05-07来源:CRI

The 6th Hong Kong Forum has been held at Hong Kong's Convention and Exhibition Center.

It aims to promote the Basic Law of the Special Administrative Region and mark the 25th anniversary of its promulgation.

Chan King Wai is the chairman and president of the Hong Kong China Chamber of Commerce.

Addressing the forum, Chan said Hong Kong's constitutional development should be gradually carried out under the framework of the Basic Law.

He believes the smooth implementation of the Basic Law is very crucial to the long-term peace and order of Hong Kong.

"As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the law, we focus on the understanding of the Basic Law, its important role in implementing the policy of 'one county, two systems,' and the current controversies in Hong Kong's constitutional development. So, we call on everyone to act in accordance with the Basic Law."

Ten keynote speeches were delivered during the forum about the significance and status of the Basic Law in Hong Kong and various experiences people had of drafting and implementing the law.

The Hong Kong Forum was established as a communication platform to enable people from all walks of life to understand the policy of "one country, two systems" and maintain the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.

Since it was first held last June, it has attracted a total of over 4,000 attendees.
