CRI听力:Hyperloop One Undergoes Successful Tests in Nevada Desert
Hyperloop One, a company working to develop a futuristic transportation technology, has successfully tested its propulsion technology in the Nevada desert.
A hyperloop would whisk passengers and cargo in pods through a low pressure tube at speeds of up to 750 miles per hour.
Maglev technology would levitate the pods to reduce friction in the city-to-city system, which would be fully autonomous and electrically-powered.
Brogan Bambrogan, a former engineer with Elon Musk's SpaceX company, said he was happy with the results of the test on Wednesday.
"That's what it was supposed to do. So we always like it when engineering tests go that way. Yeah, I'm really excited because the team has worked really hard and, you know, technology development testing can be a tricky beast, so you never know on a given day if things are going to work exactly like you want, so I'm happy for the team and certainly I'm happy."
Hyperloop One earlier this week announced the closing of 80 million dollars in financing and said it plans to conduct a full system test before the end of the year.
Engineers are aiming for a fully functioning hyperloop transportation system to be in operation by 2020.
