The 28-member bloc suggesting that granting market economy status for China with the World Trade Organization is "untenable" due to the job losses it would lead to in Europe's key industries.
The European Commission, the bloc's executive arm, has given itself until this summer to decide on whether to grant China market economy status.
For more on this situation, CRI's Tu Yun spoke with Zhao Changhui, Senior analyst at China Exim Bank, one of China's three main policy banks.
