CRI听力:Circus Show from Canada "Cirkopolis" Lands at Beijing Poly Theatre Today
Local circus fans in Beijing will gratify their visual desire by a world leader in contemporary circus arts this evening.
The award-winning Canadian troupe "Cirque Eloize" will open their spectacular show "Cirkopolis" this evening on July 27th at the Beijing-based Poly Theatre.
One of the highlights in this evening's show is that the performer may show off her amazing talent by dancing inside the center of a single circle, known as "Cyr wheel" and will then use her body to move around.
Jeannot Painchaud is the troupe's artistic director.
"It's a crossover type of show. It's a combination of theatre, dance and acrobatics. The music is a big part, and these are all original music. And what we're looking for is this emotion of 'I want to be myself', and 'I'm giving myself the permission to be free'. That's what this show is about."
Cirkopolis is set in a concrete jungle.
Twelve performers mount the stage in armor-like trench coats and hats, and then the show unfolds-defying monotony and pushing the limits of an industrial city.
Earlier, Cirkopolis has been presented in Chinese cities, including Shenzhen, Shanghai and Nanjing.
"Cirkopolis" will be shown in the Poly Theatre in Beijing until the 30th of July.
