CRI听力:Hillary Clinton opposes TPP

2016-08-16来源:CRI

US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says if she gets into office, she won't approve the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.

The deal - which involves 12 countries around the Pacific Rim - has been initiated by outgoing President Barack Obama after negotiations lasting 7-years.

The TPP is designed to wipe out tariffs in trade with Japan, Australia and Malaysia, while expanding on the existing North American Free Trade Agreement which involves Canada and Mexico.

However, many are questioning whether Clinton is sincere about scrapping the TPP, as she did support it during her time as Obama's Secretary of State.

For more on this, CRI's Bob Jones spoke earlier with Prof. Shi Yinhong with Renmin University.
