CRI听力:Discussion on corporate news of the week
Story 1:
China's leading online video platform iQiyi has signed a long-term deal with Los Angeles-based Lionsgate.
Under the deal, iQiyi will have exclusive rights to stream selected Lionsgate titles on its platform in China.
The agreement will make Lionsgate films available to more than 500 million users.
The deal announced on Tuesday includes upcoming titles such as "Robin Hood", starring Jamie Foxx, the Lionsgate/CBS Film "Patriots Day" and the counter-terrorism thriller "The Glass Castle".
How much their deal is worth is unclear.
Story 2:
It's reported that China's tech giant Huawei Technologies will open a next-generation Research and Development center in Tokyo.
The center will focus on 'collaborative applications,' the development of projects with local partners.
The move is seen as part of a broader shift from the telecom giant's traditional networking equipment to a newer focus on consumer devices like smartphones.
It also comes as Huawei tries to play a bigger part in the development of the world's next-generation 5G wireless technology.
The new R&D lab will open next year and will draw on Japan's strength in applications development for both consumers and for broader uses by businesses.
That was Doug Young, company news chief for the English edition of Caixin.
