CRI听力:Ban Ki-Moon pins hopes on China's leading role in sustainable development
The former secretary-general of the United Nations has praised China's efforts in promoting sustainable development, lauding China for its commitment and considerable effort already to tackle a set of global goals for sustainable development, aiming to end poverty, inequality and combat climate change. Ban Ki-moon says China has the ability to take up the great challenges of overcoming unsustainable growth for this planet and humanity.
As the keynote speaker at the 2018 Future Consensus Forum held in Beijing under the theme of "Next Civilized City and Sustainable Development" from November 3 to 5, he also said China is a champion and model country to other countries, especially in the developing world, and is supporting and lifting them together as a whole.
The three-day conference, which was organized by Korea's Future Consensus Institute and China's Tsinghua University, attracted multiple Chinese and Korean politicians, entrepreneurs and experts from various fields to share ideas for the sustainable development of future cities and of humanity, and to discuss ways to cooperate and make a new urban civilization.
