During their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed that the two countries will restart economic and trade consultations on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
Trump also said that the U.S. will not add new tariffs on Chinese goods.
For a further look at the agreement reached between the two presidents at the G20 summit, CRI's Tu Yun spoke to Professor John Kirton, Co-Director of the G20 Research Group, the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, at the University of Toronto.
He elaborated on the reason why the U.S. should not decouple from China.
