2019-07-23来源:CRI

Chinese authorities have put forward the concept of boosting the country's growth with smart and cyber technologies, which spurs the digital transformation of the traditional government.

As part of the national endeavors, Guangdong province has rolled out a mobile app that is aimed at providing various public services at people's fingertips.

"Guangdong Provincial Affairs" is the first WeChat-based mini program that integrates the government services into the mobile devices.

Local residents can scan the QR code to use this application and register under their real name. After that they can submit their requests through this mini program.

Su Liping, who lives in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, has a disability in her leg. She accidentally lost her disability certificate last year. This brought much inconveniences to her everyday life. The mini program came to her rescue before she re-applied for the certificate.

"A friend with disabilities introduced the app to me. I think it's fairly easy to handle. It doesn't take long to get my certificate."

Thanks to the app, Su managed to get a new certificate in just over a week, which would otherwise take at least one month.

"This mini program brought a lot more convenience to people with disabilities. It saves much time for us. We won't be bothered with the complicated procedures any more."

Wang Xinhui is responsible for the development and operation of this mobile program. He said that the mini program is aimed at addressing people's key concerns

"During the product development period, our team researched for two months to figure out what people needed the most. Therefore, the first batch of on-line services is something that is connected the vast number of online users, such as affairs concerning driver's license and electronic ID cards. The second batch of service is related to social security affairs. Therefore, the top priorities in the app are closely related to people's key concerns."

The app has proved to be a success since its launch one year ago, with over 13 million registered users so far and some 9 million page visits per day.

Gao Shangsheng is the deputy head of Guangdong provincial government service data management bureau. He explained the meanings behind these figures.

"The average number of inquiries per day is more than 9 million. Data indicate this program is very popular. There are more than 100 million people in Guangdong. What do 13 million users mean? It means one of the eight people in the province is using this program. It's a very good message. It means people like this program and technology makes our life better."

At present, "Guangdong Provincial Affairs" mobile mini program can offer 687 services. Officials say they will continue optimizing the program to better serve the people.
