HUGO: Oh, my God! Who's that?

ANNIE: You stay here, I'll go and see.

HUGO: What if it's the police?

ANNIE: You'll have to hide in the wardrobe.

ANNIE: Don’t let them in, whoever it is!

ANNIE: David! What are you doing here?

DAVID: I just can't face Juanita, not at the moment. Look, can I come in, please? It's raining.

JEAN: Who is it, Annie?

ANNIE: It's my brother.

KATE: He's another exception to the rule, I suppose.

DAVID: Look, it's absolutely pouring rain! Please, let me in.

ANNIE: Oh, alright!

JEAN: This is getting ridiculous.

ANNIE: You don't have to tell me! What's going on, David?

DAVID: Juanita's got this idea that I've been unfaithful to her. She's due back today and I can't face another argument with her. I just can't! I want to give her time to cool down.

ANNIE: Look, honestly, David, it's not my problem.

HUGO: Who is it, Annie?

ANNIE: It's David!

HUGO: So, we meet at last. Why didn't you reply to my letter? Why haven't you tried to get in touch with me?

DAVID: Dad! What are you doing here? You know, it's been a really difficult time for me - what with one thing and another.

HUGO: Why not admit it, David, you just don't give a damn!

DAVID: No, Dad, that's not true, it... Geez! I've just remembered; you'd better not stay here.

HUGO: Why not?

ANNIE: I'll go.

KATE: Who'll it be this time, do you think - your greatgrandfather?

ANNIE: Oh, my God! Kristi!

KRISTI: Look, I've got to talk to you, Annie, please!

ANNIE: This really is not a good moment.

KRISTI: It's pouring rain, Annie! Please, give me a chance!

ANNIE: Oh, God, I don’t know! Oh, come in, then!

JEAN: Is this another relative of yours, Annie? No, wait a moment - I recognize you from the TV; you're Kristi Schmidt. How can you have the nerve to come around here after what you've done?

KRISTI: Look, I can explain.

ANNIE: Did the "Sunday Post" send you round to persuade me not to sue them?

KRISTI: Annie, what the "Sunday Post" printed was nothing like what I actually wrote. It... Good Heavens!

ANNIE: It was what?

KRISTI: You're Hugo Peters, aren't you?

HUGO: Who is this woman, Annie? Is she a friend of yours?

ANNIE: Don't you dare write a word about this -

HUGO: How does she know who I am?

KRISTI: I wouldn't dream of it.

HUGO: I won't be treated like this -

ANNIE: Oh no! Can you go please, Kate?

MELISSA: Hello. Is David Peters here?

KATE: Yes, but -

MELISSA: I must speak to him immediately. Let me through, please.

KATE: Oh, alright!

DAVID: Oh no, Melissa! How did you know I was here?

MELISSA: Simple, I rang your apartment. Juanita hadn't seen you, so I guessed you'd be with your sister.

DAVID: Do you mean you've spoken to Juanita again?

MELISSA: David, I admire you for having the courage to leave her! It may be painful at first, but you're a free man now!

ANNIE: Who is this lady? What's going on, David?

DAVID: Oh, she's just a student of mine, that's all?

MELISSA: What do you mean, just a student of yours? Or are you in love with all your students?

ANNIE: David, I just don't want to know about your private life. Please go, take this lady with you and try and solve your problems somewhere else!

ANNIE: Oh Hell, no! I'll go this time!

JUANITA: Annie, is David here?

ANNIE: Yes, he is! I wish you'd take him away with you!

JUANITA: I've got to speak to him.

ANNIE: Oh, come in!

JUANITA: David, how could you do this to me? How could you do this to your daughter?

DAVID: Juanita, darling! I can explain everything! Is your father alright, then? Have they caught the kidnappers?

JUANITA: No, he wasn't really kidnapped at all. He just had some people pretend to kidnap him, and then we paid the ransom money into a Swiss bank account. It was all done for tax reasons, or something. My Daddy's so clever. He's alright, but what about you and me?

MELISSA: David's left you, because he knew in his heart it was the right thing to do.

JUANITA: What? Who are you? Are you the bitch I spoke to on the telephone, because if you are -

MELISSA: I'm David's girlfriend, and I have as much right to -

ANNIE: Look, would you please all get out of my house! I just can't stand this!

DAVID: Melissa, it would make things a lot easier if you left us alone.

JEAN: Heigh-ho! I'll go!

JEAN: Ah, it's another man this time!

ROGER: Is this where Annie Peters lives?

JEAN: That's right. Let me guess: you're her cousin!

ROGER: I'm not in the mood for joking, OK? Now let me in!

ROGER: OK, where's Hugo Peters, then? I've come to get him!

HARRY: Morris, can I have a report, please?

MORRIS: Yes, sir. Well, I'm watching the front of the house, and I've got Henson watching the back. Hugo Peters is in there and Roger Temple has just gone in. The only the thing I don't understand is, why you put another man on duty here?

HARRY: What do you mean - another man?

MORRIS: This guy in a gray raincoat who's been waiting here for the last two hours; he's one of our men, isn't he?

HARRY: No, he certainly isn't. Anyway, never mind about him for now. I'm coming over right away; don't do anything until I get there. Then, we'll go into the house and arrest Peters, and Temple too. I can't wait! It’s just too good to be true!

KRISTI: Roger, I thought you were dead!

ROGER: Oh, you're here too, are you Kristi? I've got no time for you now. I've been waiting five years to get my hands on Hugo.

KATE: Hey, it's my turn this time!

FINN: Where's Hugo Peters?

KATE: You're after him too, are you? He's a popular guy. It's OK, come in, join the party!

DAVID: Oh, my God, it's you again!

FINN: Where's your father? Come on, where is he?

DAVID: He's around here somewhere, honestly!

ANNIE: Will you please get out of here? All of you!

ANNIE: Whoever it is this time, I am definitely not letting them in!

HARRY: Stand back, please! This is a police raid!

HARRY: Come on, Morris, let's get them! OK, nobody move, just stay right where you are!

HARRY: That may be another member of the gang. Morris, answer the door and arrest them as soon as they come in!

MORRIS: Do come in, madam.

MORRIS: OK, you're under arrest.

SUSAN: What!? Harry, what's going on?

HARRY: Let her go, Morris. That's my wife!

SUSAN: Harry, we were supposed to be going to the theater this evening; you asked me to book the seats.

HARRY: But, darling, I...

SUSAN: You know how hard it is to get a reliable babysitter!

HARRY: We'll talk about this later, OK? Hugo Peters is somewhere in this house, and I'm going to find him! OK you lot, where is he? Come on, what have you done with him, and where's Roger Temple?

MORRIS: That'll be Mr Henson, I expect, with Peters and Temple.

HENSON: Hello sir, I thought I'd better report back. I found this very suspicious character hanging around outside.

HARRY: Well, come in!

JOHN: I've only just come over to see Miss Peters, honestly!

HARRY: Henson, where are Peters and Temple?

HENSON: Er... I thought they were in here, sir.

HARRY: They were in here, but they must have escaped through the back door. Weren't you watching the back of this house?

HENSON: Oh, yes, sir. I counted the numbers, starting from the house on the corner; 18... 20... 22... 24!

HARRY: This house is number 26, Henson!

HENSON: Oh, is that so? Er... I don't know what to say, really, sir.

HARRY: This can't be happening! It can't be true!

JOHN: I've got a good idea! I'll go put on some music; they've got a pretty neat collection here.

HARRY: What?

JOHN: Why don't we have a party? There are loads of people here - loads of girls, particularly. I’ll go out and get some booze, if someone will lend me a few bucks.

HARRY: Oh, do what you like! I don't care!

SUSAN: Harry, don't look at me like that. Let's have a dance!

HARRY: He's got away from me again. Tell me I'm dreaming!

SUSAN: That's right, Harry, think of it as a dream. Hey, have you ever had one of those dreams where you're chasing after something which is always just a little way ahead of you, so you run a little bit faster, and then, just when you think you're about to catch up, you find it's out of your reach again, and you never actually catch it. It's like that with you and Hugo, isn’t it? Come on, Harry, he's gone now. You might as well enjoy the party.
