华尔街高级英语学习教程第10课:追踪消息Act7 (MP3和文本下载)
MARIE-FRANCE: David, isn't there another way of saying "I speak English very well"?
DAVID: Yeah, there are several other ways of saying it, Marie-France. Anybody?
STIG: I speak English perfectly.
DAVID: Great, Stig. Anyone else? The word begins with 'f'.
PAULO: I speak English fantastically!
DAVID: No Paulo, we can't say that.
PAULO: Why not? I just said it.
DAVID: Come on, somebody! F-...f-...
HANS-DIETRICH: Fluently!
DAVID: Well done, Hans-Dietrich.
HANS-DIETRICH: I just looked the word up in my dictionary. To give an example: “I speak fluently English”.
DAVID: No, Hans-Dietrich: “I speak English fluently”.
HANS-DIETRICH: That's very strange. It's correct to say "I speak English fluently", and it's also correct to say "I speak fluent English", isn't it?
DAVID: Yes, it is.
HANS-DIETRICH: Then why is it incorrect to say "I speak fluently English"?
DAVID: Gee, there goes the bell. That's the end of the lesson, I guess. See you all tomorrow!
MELISSA: Are we going to my place again tonight?
DAVID: I've got a bit of headache, you know; I was planning to go home. There might be some mail for me.
MELISSA: From Juanita?
DAVID: Well - yes, maybe.
MELISSA: Can I come too? We've never spent time in your apartment; it would make a nice change.
DAVID: Oh alright, sure. There's nothing to eat there, by the way; we’ll get a Chinese meal to go on the way home.
MELISSA: Mmm, I adore Chinese food! This sweet and sour pork is delicious! How's yours, David?
DAVID: Oh, it's OK, thanks. I think I've had enough; I'll see if there's anything worth watching on television.
MELISSA: I don't want to watch TV!
DAVID: Oh, OK. I'll put on a CD, then. Do you feel like classical or rock?
MELISSA: Why can't we just talk to each other?
DAVID: Alright. What do you want to talk about?
MELISSA: David, what's going to happen when Juanita comes back? Are you going to tell her?
DAVID: Oh, for God's sake! Can't we deal with problems when they arise; do we have to go looking for them beforehand?
MELISSA: Who says it's a problem? You're such a pessimist sometimes, David! You see everything as a terribly serious problem. Personally, I think of it as an opportunity.
DAVID: Huh! An opportunity for Juanita to scream in Spanish for 24 hours non-stop, and throw all the pots and pans in the kitchen at me. You don't know her, Melissa, I'm afraid.
MELISSA: So what? People can change, can't they? You’ll see,
DAVID: I'll get it!
MELISSA: No, it’s alright.
DAVID: No, Melissa, please - let me get it!
MELISSA: Hello? David Peters' apartment.
JUANITA: Who are you?
MELISSA: I beg your pardon? Who are you?
JUANITA: I am David's wife, and I want to know who you are, and what you're doing in my apartment!
DAVID: Melissa, please!
MELISSA: I am David's friend, and I've come to his apartment to -
DAVID: Melissa, for God’s sake give me that phone!
DAVID: Hello, darling! How are things?
JUANITA: What is going on, David?
DAVID: Hey, that was just one of my students; I'm giving her private lessons. She was only joking; she's got a great sense of humor, hasn't she? Ha-ha!
JUANITA: We'll talk about this when I come home. Meet me at the airport at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow, OK?
DAVID: What? Have they found your father, then?
JUANITA: I'll explain tomorrow - and you've got some explaining to do, as well! Make sure you're there!
