DAVID: This is the life, right? Just sitting here on this beach, having a drink or two, watching the world go by. This is the way to live!

JUANITA: David, I'll go crazy if we stay here much longer! There's nothing to do; I'm so bored!!

DAVID: Gee! Uh… do you feel like a game of tennis?

JUANITA: No way!

DAVID: How about a game of cards, maybe?

JUANITA: No, I don't want to play stupid games, or read stupid books like this one! Thank God we've only got two more days of this, before we go back to Washdon!

DAVID: We needn’t go back to Washdon, dear. We can go wherever we like! Anywhere in the world.

JUANITA: No, we can't. What about your job?

DAVID: My job? But I thought …

JUANITA: What did you think?

DAVID: Oh, nothing! Never mind. Hey, here comes the waiter! Would you like another ice cream, honey?

HARRY: Excuse me, sir!

DAVID: Yeah, waiter; I didn't call you, but as you're here, I'll have another one of these excellent cocktails. And my wife will have an ice cream.

HARRY: I'm not a waiter, as it happens. I'd just like to ask you one or two questions, if you don’t mind. I'm looking for two friends of mine, have you seen them anywhere?

JUANITA: What do they look like?

HARRY: I happen to have photographs of them, madam.

HARRY: This is the first one. His name is Roger Temple.

JUANITA: I've seen this man's face before!

HARRY: Really?

JUANITA: Yeah, I read about him in the papers. He escaped from prison, didn't he?

HARRY: That's it!

JUANITA: Let me see: they put him in prison for drugs, didn't they? He was carrying a big suitcase full of drugs when they arrested him, right?

HARRY: That's the one!

JUANITA: And he's a friend of yours?

HARRY: Well, not exactly a friend. He used to be a friend of a friend, you could say.

JUANITA: Well, I've never seen him anyway, except in the newspapers.

DAVID: Neither have I.

HARRY: I see.

HARRY: And what about this one, then? Have you seen -

JUANITA: David, this is a photo of your father! Look!

DAVID: What? My God, so it is! That’s strange!

JUANITA: Why are you looking for David's father? What are you after, anyway?

HARRY: Oh, I just want to say hello to him, that's all. Look, if you see him, don't say anything about this, will you? I'd like it to be a surprise, you see. OK? Afternoon!

JUANITA: What did he want, David? There’s no way he’s a friend of your father’s.

DAVID: Oh, I don't know. Dad's got a lot of rather strange business acquaintances; you know how it is.

JUANITA: I’m sure that guy was a cop!

DAVID: Whatever makes you think that?

JUANITA: Look - there he is, asking some other people about your father.

DORIS: It's so darned hot here!

OSCAR: What do you expect, Doris; we're in Trinidad, not Buffalo! Ah, look, here comes a waiter. I'll order you a nice cool drink. What about a pineapple juice with ice?

HARRY: Excuse me, sir!

OSCAR: Ah, waiter! I didn't call you, but as you're here, my wife will have a pineapple juice. I think I'll have an ice cream.

HARRY: I'm not a waiter, actually. I'd just like to ask you a few questions.

DORIS: Then why are you wearing a white coat and a black tie?

HARRY: I'd just like to ask you a few questions, if you don’t mind.

DORIS: Oscar, why is he dressed like a waiter, if he isn't a waiter?

OSCAR: I don't know, dear! Yes sir, what can we do for you?

HARRY: I'm trying to find a couple of old friends, and I was wondering if you could help me.

HARRY: Have you ever seen this gentleman? His name is Hugo Peters, and -

DORIS: Hey, wait a moment!

HARRY: Yes?

DORIS: Wasn't he in - you know - that picture with Robert Redford?

OSCAR: What picture was that?

DORIS: Don't you remember - we went to see it while we were staying with your cousin in Philadelphia?

OSCAR: We never went to see a picture then.

DORIS: Yes we did!

HARRY: Excuse me!

OSCAR: Anyway, my cousin doesn't live in Philadelphia. You’re thinking of my sister-in-law.

DORIS: Don't be ridiculous, Oscar! I know where -

HARRY: Excuse me! Please!

DORIS: Yes? What is it?

HARRY: Can I have my photo back? Thank you.

HARRY: This is the other man. His name is Roger Temple. Have you seen this man, or do you have any information regarding him?

DORIS: I know this man's face! I've seen him!

HARRY: What!? When!? Where!?

DORIS: Well, he sat next to us on the plane, didn't he, Oscar?

OSCAR: He sure did. I didn't like the look of him at all.

DORIS: That's right. When it got dark he switched on the light so he could read, and that meant I couldn't get to sleep.

OSCAR: So I asked him very politely: “Excuse me sir, could you possibly switch your light off, please?”

DORIS: And, of course, he didn’t switch it off.

DORIS: It's no good being polite to guys like that, Oscar. You've got to stand up to them.

HARRY: Never mind about that! Where is he now?

DORIS: Well, he was getting into a taxi in front of our hotel when we came in just now.

HARRY: When was that?

DORIS: About ten minutes ago.

HARRY: Thank you! Goodbye!

OSCAR: I hope you find your friends!

DORIS: I don't think they're his friends at all. If you ask me, he's a cop.

OSCAR: What makes you think that?

DORIS: It's absolutely obvious. I mean, you've only got to look at him….
