Suspected tornadoes touched down in northwest Florida on Monday. The storms destroyed more than a dozen homes and damaged a school in Mississippi where classes were in session.

Authorities in South Texas say a fire and explosion at a gas plant left 2 workers injured. Authorities southwest of San Antonio don't know what caused the explosion, which shut down parts of two highways for several hours.

And people in North Korea are marking the 74th birthday of late president Kim Jong-il. North Koreans are leaving flowers at statue of the former leader and his predecessor Kim Il-sung.
