President-elect Donald Trump has tapped another general for his administration. Retired Marine General John Kelly is head of Homeland Security. Kelly retired after serving a three-year stint as head of U.S. Southern Command, which oversees the Guantanamo Bay detention facility.
A small turboprop plane from Pakistan's national airline, carrying 48 people, crashed shortly after takeoff some 45 miles northwest of Islamabad. There were no survivors.
Thousands gathered for a moment of silence 75 years after Japanese planes bombed Pearl Harbor, triggering U.S. entry into World War II. More than 2,300 U.S. servicemen were killed in the attack.
