John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth, has died. The 95-year-old was the last survivor of the original Mercury Seven astronauts. He went on to a long career in the U.S. Senate.

President-elect Donald Trump is expected to pick fast food executive Andrew Puzder to lead the Labor Department. Puzder heads the parent company of Carl's Jr., Hardee's and other chains. The selection will bring another wealthy business person and elite donor into Trump's cabinet.

The U.S. Surgeon General is calling e-cigarettes an emerging public health threat to the nation's youth. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy acknowledged the need for more research into the health effects of vaping. He said e-cigarettes aren't harmless and too many teens are using them.

And hundreds of people packed into the Arab-Israeli city of Nazareth to watch the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Nazareth holds cherished place in Christianity as it's where, according to tradition, Jesus Christ grew up.
