AP News:美国承认耶路撒冷为以色列首都
This is AP News Minute.
President Donald Trump announced Wednesday the US will now recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a bold move bound to undo decades of US policy in the region. The president says his decision "marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians". Leaders around the globe are harshly responding to President Trump's move on Israel. As others fear the instability and violence it could spark in the region, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the move, saying he is "profoundly grateful". Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas said Trump has destroyed his credibility as a peace broker in the Middle East.
More than a dozen members of Congress called on Minnesota senator Al Franken to resign on Wednesday after another woman, now a total of seven, accused the democrat of sexual misconduct. Franken will be making a public statement on Thursday and is expected to resign.
And hundreds of acres in southern California continued to burn on Wednesday after the biggest and most destructive wildfire spread amid gusty winds. The most damaging of the fires is in Ventura County, where more than a hundred square miles and homes are now destroyed.
