Fire officials say California has already spend one quarter of its annual firefighting budget, one month into its budget year. More than 13,000 firefighters are battling numerous blazes and tens of thousands of people are under evacuation orders.
President Trump said in a tweet that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should terminate the Russia investigation right now. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that tweet was not a direct order.
And the US Coast Guard says more than 12,000 pounds of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana were unloaded in Florida. The Coast Guard says several cutters seized the drugs from suspected smuggling vessels off the coast of Mexico and central and south America.
