An explosion at a Mosque in eastern Afghanistan has left more than 60 worshipers dead and at least 36 others wounded. It comes one day after a U.N. report said that Afghan civilians are dying in record numbers in the country's ongoing conflict.
Government security forces aborted an effort in northern Mexico to capture a son of imprisoned drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman after they found themselves outgunned in a shootout with cartel gunmen. Officials say Thursday's gunbattle left at least 8 people dead and more than 20 wounded.
