The stunning report Thursday from the U.S. Labor Department shows that job cuts are mounting against the backdrop of economies in the United States and abroad. More than 6.6 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week.
A military aircraft loaded with medical equipment and masks took off from Moscow early Wednesday morning following a phone call between Russian president Vladimir Putin and US president Donald Trump. And some 83 metric tons of personal protective equipment arrived in Columbus, Ohio overnight Thursday.
The Democratic National Committee is delaying its convention in Milwaukee until the week of August 17. The move comes after prospective nominee Joe Biden said he didn't think it was possible to hold a normal convention in July because of the coronavirus.
And as the Vienna Zoo remains shut due to the coronavirus pandemic, polar bear cub Finja is prospering. Unconcerned about a lack of visitors, she is intent on playing with her toy- a yellow floating buoy. The Vienna Zoo has published a photo book which can be bought in the Zoo's online shop.
