President Donald Trump has threatened to hold up federal funds for two battleground states that are trying to make it easier and safer to vote during the coronavirus pandemic, Michigan and Nevada. The CDC backs voting by mail as a safe option during the pandemic. The president, however, is opposed.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is defending the firing of the State Department'S inspector general, Steve Linick, saying "the president has the unilateral right to choose who he wants to be his inspector general." Democrats have suggested the firing might be tied to the IG's investigation of several matters related to Pompeo, including personal errands performed by his staff.
Floodwaters that overtook two dams and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents remain a threat to the city of midland in central Michigan. Michigan's governor Whitmer is warning the city's downtown could be under as much as nine feet of water by Wednesday night.
A woman from Italy is the new owner of this oil painting by Pablo Picasso thanks to a charity raffle at Christie's of Paris. The painting, simply called "Still Life," is valued at a million euros. Tickets cost 100 euros each.
