Donald Trump has accepted the Republican nomination for a second term as President. He spoke at the White House, said election is a choice between Republicans who will save the American dream and Democrats who will destroy it.
Huge crowds of protesters made noise outside the White House to try to drown out the President's speech. The protests were peaceful, although some demonstrators clashes with police and arrests were reported afterwards.
The remnants of Hurricane Laura are being felt northward across the central United States, dropping heavy rain and triggering tornado warnings. The storm is blamed for at least six deaths since it made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 Hurricane.
Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is stepping down due to health reasons. Abe is Japan's longest-serving Prime Minister. Speculation about his health recently followed two hospital visits.
