Early results from the second and final round of voting in France’s local elections show big gains for the Socialists at the expense of the right-wing UNP Party of President Nicolas Sarkozy. The elections were being widely seen as a test of the popularity of the president after ten months in office. Early returns show the Socialists have taken control of a number of important centers from the UNP. As Emma-Jane Kirby reports now from Paris.
