insist【用法一】 v. 坚决要求;坚持要;一定要

例1:we insisted on his apology.

我们要他赔礼道歉。

例2: she insisted on seeing us home.

她坚持要送我们回家。

例3: i insisted on their arriving there ahead of time.

我坚持要他们提前赶到那。

注:1)insist on 后面不能接由“名词或代词 + 动词不定式”构成的复合宾语。不能说:the teacher insisted on all the compositions to be handed in on monday.

2)insist +宾语从句(从句中的谓语动词常用虚拟语气,即should + 动词原形或

省去should)。例如: the young men insisted that they (should) be sent to the front.

【用法二】v. 坚持认为,坚持说,强调

1) insist on +名词。

例如: he insisted on his innocence.

他坚持说自己无罪。

2)insist on + 宾语从句在表示一个客观事实时(谓语动词不用虚拟语气,而应用陈述语气)。

例如: the boy insisted that he hadn’t broken the glass.

那小男孩坚持说他没有打烂玻璃杯。

  1作代词
  both,两者都。both与of连用, of后的复数名词前需加冠词或者物主代词。both of...作主语时,谓语动词用复数。如:
  ①Both are right= Both of the answers are right这两个答案都对。
  ②either,两者之一,任何一方。做主语时,其后的谓语动词一般用单数形式;做宾语时,可单独使用,也可与of连用,放在动词或介词之后。如:
  Either (of them) is OK(他们两个中)任何一个都行。
  ③neither,两者都不。可与of连用。of后的复数名词前需加冠词或者物主代词。neither of the(物主代词)+名词复数做主语时,谓语动词用单数。如:
  Neither of the boys knows my brother那两个男孩都不认识我弟弟。
  2作形容词
  ①both,两者都,与单数名词连用。如:
  Both doors are open两扇门都开着。
  ②either,两者之间任何一个的,任何一方的,与单数名词连用。如:
  On either side of the river there are lots of big trees河的两边都有许多大树。
  ③neither,两者都不,与单数名词连用。如:
  Neither boy is going there两个男孩都不打算去那里。
  3作副词
  ①both,两者。如:
  I like them both我喜欢他们两个。
  ②either,也(不)。用于否定句中。如:
  I don’t like fishingDavid doesn’t like fishing, either我不喜欢钓鱼,大卫也不喜欢。
  ③neither,也不。用于肯定句,表示否定含义。如:
  He can’t swim, and neither / nor can I他不会游泳,我也不会。
