A plane transporting Bolivia’s former president Evo Morales is on its way to Mexico, where he's been granted asylum. Mr.Morales boarded the plane promising to return to Bolivia sometime with more strength and energy. He stepped down on Sunday after losing the support of the army following weeks of unrest over a disputed election.
A senior commander of the militant group Islamic Jihad has been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. The group said Baha Abu al-Ata died at his home along with his wife. The Israeli military confirmed he was targeted, saying he'd been responsible for hundreds of attacks against the country.
The Afghan president Ashraf Ghani has said that three senior militants have been released from prison in exchange for two foreign professors, who were kidnapped three years ago. The prisoners include Anas Haqqani, the brother of the leader of the Haqqani network.
