"By their respective general gestures, I'm accorded the privilege of serving our community for the next five years as chief executive of Hong Kong SAR, a privilege which I should accept with humility and gratitude."

As part of his election platform, Leung Chun-ying pledged to build more public housing, offer a free 15-year education for all and increase medical expenditures.
Many Hong Kong residents expressed their expectations for the newly elected chief executive and his policies.
"I'm happy to see that he won the election, because he can introduce some new policies. It would be great if he could find some talented people in Finance to help him."
"I hope he can improve people's livelihoods; for example, introduce more medical welfare."
"I hope he can lower the price of housing and extend the duration of free education for our children."
