国际足联否认卷入倒卖门票

2014-07-07来源:CRI

World football governing body FIFA says it is not currently investigating the son of Vice-president Julio Grondona after he publicly declared he had sold a World Cup ticket.

FIFA's director of marketing Thierry Weil reveals that police in Rio de Janeiro have handed over a number of tickets to FIFA for further investigation.

But police still believe there are thousands more available for purchase.

Police also allege that a senior FIFA official is the source of the tickets.

Weil refused to comment when this allegation was put to him and also refused to acknowledge that thousands of illegal tickets may still be on the black market for the closing stages of the World Cup.

"We can only comment on what we heard from the police and we were told that's the only tickets. What I know is that there is nobody from FIFA who has been approached by any of the police in any way or form."

The findings come days after the son of FIFA Vice-president Julio Grondona stated that he had knowingly sold a World Cup ticket to a friend.

Such a practice is prohibited under FIFA regulations.
