Good Wednesday afternoon to you, I'm Veronica De La Cruz at the cnn center in Atlanta. Here is a look at what's happening right NOW IN THE NEWS.
Senator John McCain made it official today. The Arizona Republican is opening his second presidential bid. He kicked things off in New Hampshire. McCain says he is not the youngest candidate in the field, but he is the most experienced.
It was the sound of cannon fire accompany the burial service of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin. In a break with tradition, he was laid to rest at Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow not in the Red Square. There was a state funeral at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior earlier. Dozens of current and former world leaders attended those services.
A war-funding bill that has triggered a war of words between the White House and Democrats in Congress is up for a vote in the House today, requires the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq beginning this fall. The Senate could vote on that bill tomorrow. President Bush has threatened to veto any measure that includes timetables.
Ten people are dead after a line of powerful storms ripped across the Mexican border into Texas. Seven people including a three-year-old girl were killed last night near the Texas town of Eagle Pass. Dozens of others were hurt, some critically. Twenty homes were wiped out, two schools destroyed. The National Guard is going door to door to make sure everyone is accounted for. Three people were killed in Mexico.
Finally this question for you, does Earth have a twin? Well, not quite. Astronomers say they've found the most Earth-like planet outside our solar system. Your life there will be a tad different.
