Hello and welcome from the cnn world's headquarters in Atlanta, I'm Christina Park. Thanks for checking in with us this hour. Here's a look at what is happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

First up, American and Iraqi forces are using all available assets in the search for three missing US soldiers south of Baghdad. Hundreds of Iraqis have been questioned and nearly a dozen detained in the hope of locating the three men. They are now presumed kidnapped by an al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group which is demanding a halt to the search.

New violence in Gaza is pushing the Palestinian unity government closer to collapse. At least 12 people were killed Tuesday as rival from Hamas and Fatah militants clashed. Members of the presidential guard are among the dead. They were reportedly shot in an ambush by Hamas militants. A ceasefire declared Monday never actually took hold.

And there are some significant developments this morning in the case of a missing four-year-old British girl. Four-year-old Madeleine McCann went missing from a room while her family vacationed in Portugal. The BBC is reporting this morning that a man questioned yesterday in her disappearance is now being considered a suspect.

The No.2 official at the Justice Department is resigning. Deputy Attorney General Paul Mcnulty cited personal reasons for his decision but his resignation does come after a controversy over the firings of eight federal prosecutors. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says Mcnulty's departure is a loss to the Justice Department. Gonzales has admitted that the prosecutor firings were poorly handled but says he will not step down.

According to a Liberty University official, the Reverend Jerry Falwell was found unconscious in his office and taken to a Lynchburg Virginia Hospital today. Reverend Falwell had missed an appointment. His Executive Assistant Ron Godwin reports that Reverend Falwell is currently undergoing CPR.
