Well, hello to you on this Thursday. I am Veronica De La Cruz at the cnn center in Atlanta. Here's a look at what's happening right NOW IN THE NEWS.

The death toll officially is four in a tragic bridge collapse in Minnesota on Wednesday. And that number is expected to climb, because somewhere between 20 and 30 people are still missing. At least 79 people were injured. The investigation into what caused this tragedy is already underway. The Federal government has dispatched teams from the NTSB, FEMA and a host of other agencies to help with the investigation. First Lady Laura Bush is expected to travel to Minneapolis tomorrow to meet with families of those killed in the disaster.

Well, the White House won't allow top adviser Karl Rove to testify about why at least 8 US attorneys were dismissed late last year. President Bush is invoking executive privilege and is ordering Rove and his chief deputy to defy subpoena from the Democratic-led senate Judiciary Committee. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales who is facing a perjury investigation because of his congressional testimony about domestic spying, admits he may have created some confusion. In a letter to Senate leaders, he says he didn't mean to mislead lawmakers. The ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, Senator Arlen Specter is not satisfied with that explanation, he says Gonzales did not tell the whole truth.

Well, Fisher-Price is recalling 83 types of toys because excessive amounts of lead were found in them. 967, 000 plastic preschool toys, including Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego characters contain more than 0. 06% lead. Under current regulations, that makes them subject to recall. Fisher-Price's general manager says the company found the problem and reported it to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. To see pictures of all of these recalled toys, you can log on to service.mattel.com, again that's service.mattel.com. You can also call the 800 number on your screen. That is Fisher-Price parent company Mattel at 1-800-916-4498.

A new space race, well, more likely an underwater race. Several countries are rushing to lay claim to oil deep in the Arctic Ocean ice. Russian explorers have already planted their national flag on the ocean floor, claiming the area. Some officials say that’s because of global warming and melting icecaps, an estimated 70 billion barrels of Arctic oil could become available within the next 50 years.
