Good afternoon, I'm Melissa Long here at the cnn center in Atlanta with a look at some of the headlines of NOW IN THE NEWS.

With ceremonies and silences, Americans are remembering the terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001. President Bush led a moment of silence of (at) the White House. And in New York, first responders are reading the names today of those who died in the collapse of the twin towers,the World Trade Center. And there were also memorial services at the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania field where United Flight 93 went down.

Back to Capitol Hill for the top US commander in Iraq, General David Patraeous and the US ambassador to Iraq. Today is the Senate's turn to hear from them about their assessment on the war in Iraq. General David Patraeous and Ambassador Ryan Crocker are testifying before two Senate Panels. Those panels include 5 presidential candidates from both parties.

For the second time in a week, the man behind the September 11th attacks has surfaced on a video tape. Al-Qaeda has released a highly-produced tape which shows Osama Bin Laden praising one of the 911 hijackers as he reads his last testament.

No word yet on who may have planted a now defused bomb on a bus in Turkey's capital today. Turkish police uncovered the bomb hidden inside a mini-bus in Ankara. It took bomb experts almost three hours to defuse that device. Nearby homes and businesses had been evacuated. Officials say the bus was found with a fake licence plate in a multilevel parking garage.

Internet users are helping search for a missing adventurer Steve Fossett. They are scanning satellite images like Google Earth for possible plane wreckage. The message on Fossett's website is asking for volunteers but that has law enforcement worried about others getting lost. Fossett has been missing in Nevada for more than a week now.

More than two weeks after the drawing, we now know the winner of the 314-million-dollar Powerball Jackpot. David Coterel won the winning ticket. He bought it at a speedway convenience store about 60 miles east of Indianapolis. The retired auto worker says he was shocked when he realized that he won. David and his two adult children took the cash option. They will get about 146 million dollars before taxes.
