Glad you with us, everyone. I'm Catherine Callaway at the cnn center in Atlanta. Here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS for you.

Federal investigators are now looking into reports that Blackwater security employees illegally smuggled weapons into Iraq. A company source tells cnn the accusation is baseless. Blackwater has already under scrutiny because of its involvement in a shooting incident in which 20 Iraqi civilians were killed.

And rumors about Fidel Castro being out of commission or perhaps even dead have been ruled out. The 81-year-old Cuban leader made a surprise appearance on State Television Friday night. During that interview, Castro talked about global economics, particularly the dollars showing against the Euro. He also talked about Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan's new book. The interview marked the first time the Cuban leader has been seen in a video or in a photograph since early June.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is due to arrive in the US tomorrow. He had planned a visit to the former site of the World Trade Center in New York but the White House denied that request. He will instead address the UN and also the students and faculty at Columbia University. Columbia has come under some criticism for allowing the Iranian leader to speak. Columbia says it plans to use the opportunity to question Ahmadinejad about his radical views, particularly those concerning Israel in the Holocaust .

In Delaware, police have not identified a suspect in a double shooting at Delaware State University. The incident happened early Friday morning. Authorities say that one of the victims, the female, was shot twice and is in serious condition. The male victim was shot once. He's in stable condition. Investigators say the attacks were not random and were probably the work of a student at the university.

Remnants at the tropical depression are moving through southern Mississippi in Louisiana. New Orleans had started preparing for the system to develop into something more serious. But forecasters say except for dumping some much needed rain in several areas, the system isn't expected to do much damage.

Those are the headlines for you this hour. For more on these stories and other news of the day, cnn is your source online, on television and when you are on the go. I'm Catherine Callaway. Thanks for watching.
