A travel photo that authorities hoped would be a major break in the search for missing British toddler Madeleine McCann has turned out to be a false alarm. British media are now reporting that journalists tracked down the girl in the photo, and she is the daughter of a local olive farmer.

Back in the States(美国), Senator Larry Craig's lawyers want him to have a second chance in his airport sex sting case. The Idaho Republican entered a guilty plea by mail and without legal advice to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. His lawyers are asking a judge to withdraw that plea this afternoon. They say if a judge had asked Craig about the incident, it would have been clear he had done nothing wrong.

Solving problems on a global scale. That is the idea behind a gathering of world leaders, scholars and celebrities in New York today. They got the invitation of former President Bill Clinton. He hopes different perspectives will lead to solutions for some of the most pressing problems including poverty and climate change.

Assembly lines are rumbling back to life at General Motors plants in 30 states. The United Auto Workers tentatively accepted a new contract and a two-day strike is now over. The contract must be reviewed by local UAW presidents. Then it will be voted on by more than 70,000 union members.

And Nike has a new sneaker, specifically for native Americans. The company says it is designed to promote fitness and cut down on high obesity rates. The Air Native N7 is the first shoe Nike designed for a specific ethnicity. It has a larger fit for the foot shape of many native Americans.

Plus on the weather front. We are keeping an eye on this. A tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico picking up speed. The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression 13 will probably hit the Mexican coast on Friday. It has top winds near 35 miles per hour and that is just below tropical storm strength.
