Hello, I'm Melissa Long here at the cnn Center in Atlanta with a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

A circuit court judge in Florida has ruled in favor of the father of a 5-year-old Cuban girl at the center of an international custody battle. The judge says Cuban farmer Rafael Izquierdo did not abandon his daughter despite failing to contact her for months. The girl went into foster care after her mom brought her to the US in 2005 and soon after attempted suicide. Izquierdo wants to bring the girl back to Cuba.

Police searching for a missing Chicago woman have found a body in suburban Calumet City. A family member says it is 28-year-old Nailah Franklin. The body was found in a forest preserve not far from where investigators recovered Franklin's car. Her uncle says authorities have confirmed the identity.

Another violent turn to the protests against the military regime in Myanmar. Witnesses tell cnn that troops have been clashing with protestors in several cities today. The Associated Press says the government claims 9 people were killed. An American witness tells cnn she saw troops beating several protestors today and that at least one appeared dead.

Science fiction is one step closer to becoming reality; NASA launched the Dawn asteroid explorer early this morning. The Dawn will be the first spacecraft to orbit one asteroid then travel to another and orbit it. Scientists are hoping this mission will help them learn how planets formed in the early solar system.

And one man has proven he'll go to great lengths for love. Max Tenscher and his wife Roxanne were 3 weeks into a hike in Washington State when she fell and tore ligaments in her knee. No cellphone, well, no cellphone service I should clarify. He decided to go on a 40-mile trek for help. "The real problem was that it was really hard to walk by that time. There were lots of big blisters in a couple of areas on my feet. They were just pretty much done in." "40 miles on foot in rough terrain, it took about a day and half to get there." And the couple, now, they say, they'll keep hiking in the future.
