O. J. Simpson has pleaded not guilty today in a Las Vegas courtroom. Simpson and two co-defendants are accused of kidnapping and robbing two sports memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas.
Stacy Peterson disappeared from her Illinois home a month ago, and her husband maintains that she left him for someone else. But now Chicago Newspaper is reporting that a family member allegedly helped Drew Peterson move a large heavy container out of his home. Peterson’s lawyer dismisses those reports as fantasy.
Police in Florida are searching for the person who shot and killed Washington Redskin's safety Sean Taylor. He died Tuesday, a day after being shot in his Miami home. Investigators are trying to figure out if the shooting was part of a random break-in or if it was premeditated murder. Teammates will have a prayer service before practice later today. The NFL is trying to decide just how to honor Taylor during the weekend’s games.
And Pakistan's president has stepped down as army chief coming just a day before he is swearing in as a civilian president. Pervez Musharraf gave one final salute to his troops before handing over the ceremony of baton to his successor. The opposition's demand has demanded the change and is still calling for an end to the state of emergency displaced in Pakistan.
Violence is dying down, following three nights of riots in the suburbs of Paris. And French President Nicolas Sarkozy says that the riots are (quote) '' unacceptable''. The rioters tossed Molotov cocktails at police and they also set cars on fire. The protestors were angry after two teenagers on a motorcycle were killed in a collision with a police car Sunday night.
Talk show host Carson Daly is breaking ranks with striking writers and he is heading back to work. NBC says that he will begin taping new episodes of his talk show which will resume airing fresh episodes next week. ''Last Call with Carson Daly'' will be the first late night talk show to defy the ongoing writers' strike. The Writers Guild says it's disappointed in that decision.
