Selena（1971.4.16－1995.3.31）
  1971年4月16日出生于美国得克萨斯州的墨西哥裔歌手Selena , 在其短暂的24年生命中，留下了无数令人难以忘怀的音乐。虽然出生在英语国家，但是Selena 绝大部分歌曲都为拉丁风格，并且用墨西哥式西班牙语进行演唱的。Selena 曾经为拉丁歌曲创造了无数辉煌和奇迹。90年代初是Selena 最为巅峰的时期。
  1995年，她发现她最可以信赖的朋友之一，她的歌迷会主席 Yolanda Saldivar 在她的时装公司( Selena etc.boutique )和歌迷会的资金项目中有贪污的行为。3月31日，Selena 在一家 Motel 里向 Yolanda Saldivar 就一些做了很久但是仍然有很多疑问的账目进行询问，并且最后争论起来 。随后，Yolanda Saldivar 向 Selena 开了枪……
  为了悼念这位年轻出色的拉丁歌者，1997年华纳兄弟公司最后决定为 Selena 开拍传记式电影 "Selena " 。当年在电影 "Selena " 中扮演的Selena 的女演员正是现今炙手可热的 Jennifer Lopez 。
  Selena 意外去世后，全美各地各种自发的悼念活动不断。而当时仍是德州州长的乔治布什宣布将 4.16定为德州的 Selena 日。
  在这里要介绍的歌曲出自她遇刺前的最后一张专辑，也是她的第一张英语专辑"Dreaming Of You" 。标题歌曲Dreaming Of You 由于是90年代中期 R&B 渐渐开始盛行时期的作品，所以和她一贯的拉丁风格截然不同，而完全的 R&B 风格可以说令她的一班歌迷耳目一新。也使我第一次认识了Selena 。Dreaming Of You 和大多数优秀 R&B 歌曲一样，曲调悦耳，节奏错落有致，且十分耐听
Selena被誉为是“Tex Mex”女王。“Tex Mex”取自于两个词的第一个音节：“Texas”为美国南部的一个州的州名，而“Mex”则代表墨西哥。“Tex Mex”指的是一种以墨西哥北部特有的音乐节奏为基础，吸收了美国音乐中的某些元素的音乐作品。在“Tex Mex”演出中，表演者穿戴着具有墨西哥北部风味的牛仔帽、鹿皮夹克和有角靴子，这些歌曲的主题大多为爱情和反叛。在“Tex Mex”演出现场，艺人会和观众在巨大会场里融为一体，他们一起载歌载舞，使演出气氛达到炽热化的高潮。

　　自Selena离开人世后不久，她的英文专辑《Dreaming Of You》成为人们在唱片店中争相热购的抢手货。
