A mobile app has been released providing free access to the complete writings of President Xi Jinping, including all his e-books and speeches. It is the first time the top Chinese leader's complete works have been made available on mobile phones.
The app displays a list of his works published over the past 22 years, including his first book, "Poverty Eradication" published in 1992 when he was the top official in Fuzhou, Fujian province, and his latest one "The Governance of China" published last year in several languages.
Two of Xi Jinping's books published when he was Party chief of Zhejiang province in eastern China from 2002 to 2007 are also available. One of them, "New Visions for Zhejiang Province", was published in 2007 and became a bestseller last year. It contains more than 200 short commentaries, most of which are intended to advise local public servants to work in a down-to-earth manner.
The app was developed by an online learning website of the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Students at the school study Xi Jinping's lectures through the app. It is hoped that it will attract more people to study Party theories and enable the public to access them easily.

China remains the most popular country for parents in the United States to adopt a child, with 2,000 adoptions last year.
A U.S. State Department report shows that adoptions of children from other countries to U.S. families dropped by 9 percent in the last fiscal year which ended in September. It is the lowest level since 1982, down from 7,000 the previous year, and from a high of around 23,000 in 2004.
The number of adoptions from China last year totaled 2,000, down more than 10 percent from the previous year and far below the 2005 peak of almost 8,000.
China has expanded its domestic adoption program and sought to curtail the rate of child abandonment. It has also modified its one-child policy. At the same time, China has adopted more rigorous standards to qualify for the adoption of all children, including those with special needs.
Chuck Johnson, president and CEO of the National Council for Adoption in the U.S., said China's adoption program has historically been one of the most reliable for U.S. Parents.
He said the type of children being adopted in the country has changed, with the majority now having a diagnosed special need. Most children who are abandoned fall into the special-needs group.
