Almost 1,500 people died of infectious diseases on the Chinese mainland last month, with AIDS being the top cause of death.
According to figures released by China's health authorities, AIDS resulted in 1,000 deaths in March. Tuberculosis was the second-biggest killer, claiming 170 lives.
In total, 480,000 people tested positive for infectious disease on the Chinese mainland last month.
No cases of Class-A infectious diseases were reported. Most of the cases were identified as Class-B infectious diseases, including hepatitis, tuberculosis and syphilis.
Category-C infectious diseases claimed 7 lives in March, with infectious diarrhea, foot-and-mouth disease, and influenza reported most frequently.

China's health authorities have planned to install condom vending machines on university campuses in Beijing this year in an effort to reduce the risk of infection among students, a key group affected by HIV and AIDS.
The Beijing Commission of Health and Family Planning says they have communicated with the municipal education commission, and it is virtually certain that they can reach a consensus on the issue.
Meanwhile, universities in Beijing will soon provide training sessions for students on infectious diseases, with a focus on HIV and AIDS.
It's not yet clear whether vending machine condoms will be free.
Health authorities Beijing are exploring ways to prevent HIV and AIDS being spread through sex in key groups at risk.
The number of reported HIV/AIDS cases in Beijing has continued to rise in recent years, surpassing 18,600 by the end of October last year.
The number of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in the capital in the first 10 months of last year was almost 3,000, a year-on-year increase of 21 percent. The figure included more than 100 students.

In an incredible feat of memory, a college lecturer in northwest China recited every word of an English-Chinese dictionary, which has a total of 220,000 words.
Fifty-one-year-old Li Yanzhi teaches business-English in the School of Finance and Economics at Xi'an Jiaotong University. She started to memorize the entire dictionary in 2013, and completed the task in days.
Li says her tenacity and perseverance came from a hard life that taught her to always keep going forward despite the difficulties.
