Finn: Welcome to the slang-tastic programme, The English We Speak.

Wang Fei: Hello I'm Wang Fei.

Finn: This is our word-tastic programme where you learn the latest English-tastic phrases.

Wang Fei: Yes… erm…

Finn: We hope you have a learning-tastic time with us today…

Wang Fei: Finn, sorry for interrupting you but why do you keep adding 'tastic' to all these words?

Finn: Sorry Wang Fei, I should have said. Tastic is our new word, or should I say suffix, for the day.

Pop-tastic?

Wang Fei: Suffix 也就是单词的后缀。我们今天就要学一个新的后缀。那 Finn 你用了这么多的 tastic, 是什么意思呢？

Finn: Well, I'm sure you know the word fantastic?

Wang Fei: Of course. Fantastic, 就是太棒了、好极了的意思，是不是？

Finn: That's right. Well these days you might hear people using the tastic part after other words. For example, at the beginning of the programme I said slang-tastic. What that means is 'fantastic in terms of slang'. English-tastic means 'fantastic in terms of English'.

Wang Fei: 我明白了。人们在一个名词的后面加一个 tastic 后缀，来修饰这个名词，表示这个东西好极了。比如 Finn 刚才说了…

Finn: Slang-tastic

Wang Fei: 意思就是“有很多精彩俚语”的意思。

Finn: Let's hear a couple more examples.

Examples

A: Did you hear Britney's new song?

B: Yes, it's pop-tastic! I love it.

A: Did you have a good time yesterday?

B: It was so much fun. Fun-tastic! Ha ha.

Wang Fei: Wow, Finn, those were great examples. Can I say example-tastic!

Finn: Example-tastic. Very good! Now, this way of making new words really is quite informal – it comes from pop culture - so you probably wouldn't see it, for example, in a business letter.

Wang Fei: 这些加 tastic 后缀造出来的词都是非常口语化的，你可能在字典里都查不到。So, it's not business-tastic?!

Finn: Ha ha, it's not business-tastic at all. Unless you work in an industry like fashion or pop music. Anyway, I think it's time to tell our listeners about our website.
