娱乐英语新闻:Australian consumers warned of 3D TV risks
SYDNEY, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The Australia's Queensland government on Monday warned people to consider potential side effects before buying 3D televisions.
Health experts and the manufacturers themselves have warned the TVs can cause dizziness, headaches and confusion.
The format is being pushed by retailers capitalizing on special State of Origin and soccer World Cup matches being broadcast in 3D.
Fair Trading Minister Peter Lawlor said people need to be aware of the side effects.
"It's been pointed out, even by one leading manufacturer, that there are potential risks to young children, pregnant women and those with epilepsy," he said.
"People should be cautious with any new product and especially with something like this," he said, adding "and they should also avoid watching 3D TV under fluorescent lighting or direct sunlight. "
