娱乐英语新闻:Ten arrested after Chinese film director Yan Po attacked, stabbed with knife

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Ten men allegedly involved in the stabbing-attack of a Chinese film director Yan Po last week had been detained by Beijing police, police said Monday.

Yan, 43, was stabbed with a knife by four men in Beijing's Chaoyang District on June 8, the same day his movie "Shaking Marriage" was released. Yan was seriously injured and is being treated in hospital.

Wang Zheng, 38, and Liang Jun, 40, turned themselves in to police claiming to have organized the attack to punish Yan for dating an ex-girlfriend of their friend, Beijing police said in a statement.

Wang and Liang confessed they hired eight men to carry out the attack.

The ten have been detained for allegedly causing disturbances and intentional injury.

Yan has been dubbed a rising star in China's sixth generation of film directors, those who started their careers in the 1990s. His ex-wife, Mei Ting, is a famous Chinese actress.

Police are investigating the case.
