LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Grammy-winning pop/R and B singer Christina Aguilera was honored with the 2,423rd star on the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday in a grand ceremony where all her efforts "paid off in spades."
At the event held at 6901 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the Hard Rock Cafe, the popular singer recalled her earlier years as a young girl in Pittsburgh where she was raised, saying: "I often imagined what it would be like to come to Hollywood and make it as a performer. We would go from audition to audition and I would sing anthem after anthem ... hoping one day it would all pay off. Standing here at this moment I know that it has paid off in spades. "

Aguilera made her first appearance in 1990 at the age of 10, singing the national anthem before Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins games, including during the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals.

The singer, songwriter, performer, producer, director and actress has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and won five Grammy Awards.

On Aug. 24, 1999, Aguilera released her first self-titled album, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with more than eight million copies sold in the United States. In 2006, her album "Back to Basics" topped the sales charts.

She has won four Grammys in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2006. She also starred with castmates including Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at Disney Channel's "The All New Mickey Mouse Club" during the 1992-93 season.

Aguilera's feature film debut "Burlesque" is set to hit screen nine days later. She stars opposite Cher as a small-town girl who strives to make her way up to a Los Angeles burlesque club to pursue her dreams.

Aguilera also wrote and recorded four songs for the musical's soundtrack.
