LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was honored with a dedication of star on the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, less than a month before her latest film "Country Strong" is scheduled for release.

The Academy Award winner, receiving the 2,427th star on the famed spot, thanked her family and friends at a late-morning event held in front of the popular Madame Tussauds.

"I don't think I would be here were it not for my family and old friends," she said.

Tim McGraw, who played opposite Paltrow in "Country Strong," and writer-director Shana Feste also appeared at the ceremony, heaping praises on the 38-year-old actress.

"Gwyneth is one of the most genuine, warm and normal people that I've ever met," said McGraw.

Born on Sept. 27, 1972 as the daughter of the late director Bruce Paltrow, Paltrow made her acting debut on stage in 1990 and started to act in films in the following year. She was best known for her role in "Shakespeare in Love," for which she garnered the best actress Academy Award in 1999.

Her next film "Country Strong" is slated for release on Jan. 7. In the movie, Paltrow plays a fallen country singing star who embarks on a tour to resurrect her career.

Paltrow also worked with her father, brother Jake and actress mother Blythe Danner on several occasions in 2000 film "Duets," and 2007 films "The Good Night" and "Picnic."
