娱乐英语新闻:Charlie Sheen faces off with Brooke Mueller over custody of twins

LOS ANGELES, April 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. actor Charlie Sheen, who was reported to have been planning to win the custody of his two sons, faced off with his estranged wife Brooke Mueller in a downtown Los Angeles courthouse on Tuesday morning, but nobody would comment after the closed-door hearing ended in 90 minutes.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Hank Goldberg decided to hold the hearing behind closed doors, saying it would be in the "best interest of the children."

According to reports filed by celebrity website TMZ.com, the actor, 45, along with his attorney, planned to argue that Mueller, 33, has suffered a drug relapse and is unfit for the twin boys, Max and Bob, who were born in March 2009.

Mueller's mother is said to be caring for the twins, but TMZ. com also reported that Denise Richards, Sheen's ex-wife, has offered to take care of the children until things stabilize.

Sheen filed for divorce from Mueller in November 2010, and the divorce is effective on May 2, 2011.

The former couple announced last month that they had reached a custody agreement over the boys. The agreement was announced about 10 days after Mueller obtained a restraining order against the actor, claiming he had threatened her. Bob and Max were taken from Sheen's home a short time later in front of a throng of cameras.

Goldberg is reported to have decided to keep that agreement in place without any changes.

Mueller, a former star of horror film "Witchouse," has reportedly checked into a drug rehabilitation center after some bizarre behavior last week, including trying to hock jewelry and a stereo at a pawn shop in Inglewood, TMZ.com reported. She reportedly refused a drug test on Friday, even though it was required under the terms of her custody settlement with Sheen.

In recent weeks, Sheen has been touring small theaters across the country on a so-called "Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour since he was fired by CBS and Warner Bros. from his starring role on CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men" in early March after a public dispute with co-creator/producer Chuck Lorre.

The actor wanted to take his sons along with him on the tour, according to TMZ.com.
