LOS ANGELES, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Michael Jackson's family is at odds over a planned Oct. 8 charity concert in Britain which will commemorate the late pop icon.

The concert is slated for Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, and would be broadcast worldwide, Jackson's mother Katherine and his sister LaToya said at a press conference at The Beverly Hills Hotel.

"As I was told the names of some of the world-famous artists that would perform, I knew it would be a show fit for a king," Katherine said. "And so, if my son was here today, he would feel the same way."

"He (Jackson) is an entertainer that I feel that no one could ever stand up to or hold a candle to as far as his talent is concerned," LaToya said. "With that said, I know that this tribute will be something that's spectacular."

However, the late singer's brothers Jermaine and Randy don't see it that way, celebrity website TMZ.com reported.

"We find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death ... We feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event," the brothers said in a statement.

"The King of Pop" died on June 25, 2009 from an acute overdose of the prescription sedative propofol as he was preparing for a series of comeback London concerts. His personal physician Conrad Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, and a jury selection is expected to begin in early September.

Organizers will not release the names of the performers until Aug. 3, the day before tickets go on sale. The event is expected to benefit multiple charities including AIDS Project Los Angeles.
